WWE has confirmed that former World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus is set to return to in-ring competition after undergoing surgery.

WWE has confirmed the line-up for its eight house shows in the UK, which kick off on Wednesday of this week, and Sheamus has been included on the SmackDown shows.

WWE has announced that Sheamus will do one-on-one with his fellow Irishman Finn Balor on the SmackDown shows between September 7-10.

Fans seem to be really looking forward to the SmackDown live events in the UK, with the Cesaro vs. WALTER match being regarded as a "dream match" by fans.

This is Sheamus' first match since the September 27 episode of Monday Night Raw, where he was defeated by Damian Priest in a No Disqualification match for the United States Championship.

Two days after his title match, Sheamus revealed on Twitter that he had undergone surgery on his nose once again, which he broke for the second time this year.

The former WWE Champion broke his nose earlier this year in a match with Riddle, which is why he'd been sporting a face mask during matches. However, the injury required him to go under the knife again.

The events will not be televised, so unless Sheamus returns to TV on SmackDown this week before embarking on the UK tour, we'll have to wait a little bit longer to see him back on our screens.

However, the good news is that Sheamus is healthy and is now free to return to the ring, which is good news considering how impressive he has been in the ring over the last 18 months.
