It was confirmed byÂ WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman that Whyte would be facing Fury as the mandatory challenger, even after he pulled out of his Saturday 30th October 2021 bout against Otto Wallin.

As noted, Sulaiman confirmed recently that Fury vs Whyte is extremely likely to happen, saying that â€œthe WBC order was very clear, that the winner of Fury vs Wilder has one month to try to secure the ultimate unification against Usyk, who defeated Joshua.

â€œIf theyâ€™re not capable of doing such, then the WBC would go with a mandatory, which is the interim champion.

â€œWe have received from the British Boxing Board of Control the medical certification that Whyte could not fight Wallin because of the injury.

â€œSo we are going to do what we promised, which is that way we are moving forward.â€
