Arsenal Women are back to bulldozing their way through any opposition that comes up against them.

After quickly falling away from the title chase last season, the Gunners have emerged from the summer break with a new squad, a new manager, and a new hunger for success.

The North London outfit is currently the only side unbeaten in the Women's Super League this term — boasting five wins out of five and sitting three points clear of reigning champions Chelsea at the top of the table.

They have conceded just twice in their five league fixtures, scoring an astonishing 19 goals — including a 5–0 win over Manchester City.

This new winning mentality is clear to see — pulsing through the veins of every player in red that steps out onto the pitch. And it hasn't gone unnoticed by others.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hailed his team's performances so far this season and has picked out two players who have seriously impressed him.

"Listen, Viv [Miedema] is like how [Dennis] Bergkamp was, you know," the pundit said on an episode of UMM's YouTube series Assumptions. "Everybody loves her because of how great she is."

Bergkamp, who made 315 appearances for Arsenal and scored 87 goals, remains one of the most iconic players to play for the Gunners and Wright has labelled him "the best I’ve ever played with."

Miedema joined Arsenal in 2017 and has rapidly established herself as an admired club figure. The Dutch international broke the all-time WSL goalscoring record last year — leapfrogging Nikita Parris at the top of the chart.

She still holds the record to this day with 64 league goals, as well as having the highest amount of goals scored in a single season (22), goals scored in a single game (6), most goal involvement in a single game (6 goals, 4 assists), and most goal involvements overall (75).

Vivianne Miedema

Miedema wasn't the only player Wright paid homage to either. When asked who his favourite women's player was, he was confident in his answer.

"I have to say at the moment it’s probably Katie McCabe at left-back. She’s one of those players where you don’t get less than 8 out of 10 from her. Gets on with the game, flies into tackles, great footballer, great crosses, at the moment scoring great goals."

Katie McCabe

McCabe has scored three goals and assisted a further three in her five league appearances for Arsenal this season.

Last term, she tallied a stellar four goals and 11 assists in the WSL — rounding off the campaign as the league's joint-top assist provider alongside Chelsea's Fran Kirby and Chloe Kelly of Man City.

Arsenal's last outing saw them beat Brighton 3-0 in the FA Cup to reach a London Derby final against Chelsea at Wembley. The Gunners will next face West Ham on Sunday as they look to continue their unbeaten streak in the WSL.
