Journalist Tom Barclay has been impressed with Odsonne Edouard's goalscoring touch and versatility so far at Crystal Palace.

The Frenchman joined for £15m from Celtic on transfer deadline day this summer and has made a bright start by scoring three goals in his first seven appearances.

What do the stats say about Edouard?

It's been a great start to Premier League life for the striker and the statistics echo that.

Edouard made an instant impact, scoring a matter of seconds into his debut against Spurs and ended up scoring twice in just six minutes in that game to help Patrick Vieira's side claim their first Premier League victory of the season.

He would have to wait another four games before he was back on the scoresheet again, but it was worth the wait when his blistering finish flew past Aaron Ramsdale in the 2-2 draw last month.

Only Alexandre Lacazette's last-gasp equaliser prevented that strike from being a winner, but it was more evidence of Edouard's ability on an evening when the former Hoops man played on the left of a front-three in place of the injured Wilfried Zaha.

Overall, Edouard has made seven appearances, five of which coming from the start, and according to WhoScored, has been the club's second-best player behind Conor Gallagher with an average rating of 6.90, although some way behind the Chelsea loanee (7.38).

With that in mind, Barclay has been pleased with what he's seen from Edouard since he made the switch from north of the border.

What did Barclay say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Edouard has just joined but he has already shown his clinical ability in front of goal and ability to play in difference positions."

What is Edouard's best position?

Edouard has already shown his ability to play off the left during his early days as a Crystal Palace player.

However, with Zaha fit, he's likely to remain through the middle unless called upon due to injuries or suspensions in the future despite his success when moving out wide.

Furthermore, when Eberechi Eze finally makes his return from his long-awaited injury, Vieira will be able to unleash Eze, Edouard and Zaha together for the first time, which is a very exciting prospect for everyone associated with the Eagles.
