It's rumoured that WWE could be building towards some huge plans for Brock Lesnar upon his return to the company, which will likely take place next year.

On last week's Friday Night SmackDown, Drew McIntyre used the Kimura Lock to beat Mustafa Ali, and there was reportedly a hidden meaning behind this.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that McIntyre was asked to beat Ali with the submission hold, which is also used by Brock Lesnar, for a rather specific reason.

While the reason wasn't specified, you can guess that it has to do with potential plans for a rematch between Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre at some stage next year.

There was significance in Drew McIntyre using the Kimura (Brock Lesnar's submission move) on Mustafa Ali on SmackDown.

Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar squared off at WrestleMania 36 in April 2020, and based on Meltzer's report, it seems like we could be seeing the pair do battle again soon.

Brock Lesnar was last seen on WWE TV on the October 22 episode of SmackDown where he attacked Roman Reigns and WWE Officials, before being suspended and fined $1 million.

This is rumoured to have been Lesnar's last appearance on WWE TV for 2021, with reports indicating that a return for the Royal Rumble in January 2022 is expected for 'The Beast'.

Both Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar will likely be targeting Roman Reigns, so perhaps the pair will do battle for the chance to face the Universal Champion at some stage next year.

Lesnar and McIntyre are two of the favourites to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38 next year, with The Rock unable to make the show, so it looks set to be a big year ahead for the pair.
