Silva demands personal improvement

Manchester City playmaker David Silva says he's close to playing the best football of his career as he prepares to take on fellow unbeaten side Newcastle United this weekend.

The Toon have surprised many onlookers in the Barclays Premier League this season, winning seven of their 11 league games, including victory over Everton during their last outing.

However, City have dropped just two points all season and Silva says the Magpies' approach to attack won't phase the club's all-star cast.

“We’ll play our way and they will play theirs - we hope that our way is better and we win!,” he said.

“Of course, for me it’s the same,” he said. “I always play the same way and try my hardest for both City and Spain and so far things are going well so I hope it carries on like this until the end of the league.

“I am getting better at scoring goals but I would like be better at heading and defending if possible.

“I don’t know if this is being the best I have ever played in my career, but it is very close. I feel calm, happy and motivated and I think that is showing in my football."

“We work hard and have a licence to be creative in everything we do. As for my own role, I have to see where other players are and I try to fill the free space – and it is the same for the others and so far, it has proved to be very effective,” Silva added.
