Antonio Conte has been unveiled as the new Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Having waved goodbye to Inter Milan over the summer, Conte looked set for the Manchester United job considering that an approach from Spurs had fallen through before the season began.

However, with the Italian getting a second chance to move to north London upon the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo, the stars have aligned for Conte to make a Premier League return.

Conte hired by Tottenham

Conte told Tottenham in an official statement:  “I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.

“Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world.

“I can't wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach."

Conte's Premier League pedigree

It's no secret that Tottenham now have one of the most successful managers in the world in their technical area and Conte has already proven himself in England's top-flight as Chelsea boss.

Conte lifted the Blues from a 10th-place finish to one of the biggest points tallies in Premier League history to win the title at his first attempt, before winning the FA Cup in his sophomore campaign.

And although Conte's time at Stamford Bridge might have ended in ignominious circumstances, his superb winning record in the Premier League remains a massive plus point for Spurs nonetheless.

Conte up with the greats

Now, of course, Conte has the advantage of only having coached for two seasons in the division and he did so at one of the biggest clubs in the land, but it's still a remarkable achievement.

Besides, you know you're doing something right when you're harvesting more Premier League points per game than Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp, Arsene Wenger and Carlo Ancelotti.

It's perhaps no surprise to see Pep Guardiola leading the way when you consider that he's spent his entire Premier League career with Manchester City, winning three titles in just five seasons.

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson really is a freak of nature by way of maintaining a mind-boggling average of 2.16 points per game despite having managed more than 800 games in the competition.

Only time will tell whether Conte can keep his head amongst the legends as he takes on the tougher task of managing Spurs, but there's no disputing his Premier League pedigree upon his return.
