Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez said his fight with Caleb Plant is now 'personal' after the latter insulted his mother.

All hell broke loose in Los Angeles as Canelo Alvarez was involved in a scuffle with the American at a press conference to promote their undisputed clash on November 6.

But it was Plant, 29, who came off the worst after he was left with a cut on his face which he promptly covered up with a Band-Aid plaster.

It has left Alvarez, 31, spitting blood as he claimed Plant went way too far by bringing his family into it.

He told BoxingScene: “All the talk, all the s--- he says. That’s why [it’s personal].

“He crossed the line and maybe too much, that’s why it’s personal.

“At the same time, it’s one of the most important fights for me.”

Canelo Alvarez will face Caleb Plant on Saturday

Plant took great pleasure in bringing up Alvarez's past indiscretions, including his positive test for Clenbuterol and the six-month suspension that came with it, much to Alvarez's annoyance.

And Alvarez plans to punish Plant for everything he has said ahead of their Saturday clash in Las Vegas.

“They know what I’m going to do in the ring, even more so in this fight,” he added.

“When something is personal with me, it’s different. In my mind I have that special thing.

"It’s going to be a really good night for us.”

Asked why he had brought up the failed drugs test, Alvarez, an undefeated 21-0 fighter after turning professional in 2014, told The Last Stand Podcast: "Because there's no room for that in our sport.

"He was saying, 'I think Caleb Plant's insecure', but isn't testing positive for banned substances insecure?

"Taking banned substances, isn't that insecure? Because taking banned substances doesn't stem from confidence, that stems from fear.

"Fear of not making weight, fear of your conditioning being this, or your power being this, it doesn't stem from what you think you can do, it stems from what you think you can't do.

"That's what banned substances stem from, that's why you take them, and I'm a clean fighter.

"I know that in my heart, and I've always been a clean fighter and I always will be a clean fighter, I'm not a cheater.

"That's one thing my dad has instilled in me since I was a little kid, we do not cheat, and I'm not a cheater.

"I feel like more people should speak up on it and I feel like I have the platform to do it so I'm gonna [sic] speak up on it and he got mad about it but if it's not true what's there to be mad about?"
