Journalist Luke Hatfield said that losing to West Ham on Saturday after dropping captain Tyrone Mings wasn't a good look for Aston Villa manager Dean Smith.
Following the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal nine days earlier, Mings lost his place in the side for the visit of the Hammers.
But Smith's decision to drop his captain didn't pay off after Villa suffered a fourth straight loss in the Premier League.
What happened against West Ham?
After defeats to Tottenham, Wolves and Arsenal, Smith needed a big response from his side after their poor recent form has seen them slip just three points above the relegation-zone.
But Villa got off to the worst possible start when Ben Johnson fired West Ham into an early lead.
Ollie Watkins restored parity just past the half-hour mark but Declan Rice's driven effort ensured that Villa went into the break trailing for the second game on the bounce.

It went from bad to worse for Smith's side after half-time when Ezri Konsa was sent off for bringing down Jarrod Bowen, although David Moyes' men weren't able to make their numerical advantage count until Pablo Fornals and then Bowen struck late on to secure a 4-1 win for the Hammers.
Mings was introduced following Konsa's red card, but Hatfield said that Smith's decision to drop him backfired.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Things went against them in the game, but they didn't deserve anything out of it.

"Dean Smith made some big calls and when you make calls like dropping your captain, when it doesn't work out, it's not a great look."
Will Mings start against Southampton?
If Villa had picked up a positive result against West Ham, Smith would have had a big decision on his hands as to whether to bring back his captain or leave him on the bench once more.
But Konsa's red card, which will result in a three-match ban will almost certainly see the England international return to the starting XI for the trip to Southampton on Friday.
Smith did have another defender on the bench in Axel Tuanzebe, although the Villa boss used Mings ahead of the Manchester United loanee after Konsa was sent off, which would suggest that that he'll be back in the side for the trip to St Mary's.
