Journalist Luke Hatfield has drawn comparisons between West Brom midfielder Robert Snodgrass and Liverpool's James Milner.

Former Baggies boss Sam Allardyce brought Snodgrass to the Hawthorns in January, but has struggled for game time over the past 10 months.

How has Snodgrass fared at West Brom?

The 34-year-old made just eight league appearances in the second half of last season for West Brom, and he only featured once in the side's first 12 Championship matches this term.

However, playing as a central midfielder, he has appeared in each of West Brom's last three fixtures, and played full games in their most recent outings against Bristol City and Fulham.

Now that he is back in favour, he could have a significant role to play in the Midlands this season, as West Brom aim to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

What has Hatfield said about Snodgrass?

Having spent most of his career as a right winger, Snodgrass has started to play more centrally as he has grown older. Hatfield feels there are some similarities between the 28-cap international and Milner, who has also shown his versatility over the years in England's top division.

When asked about who Snodgrass could be compared to, Hatfield told GIVEMESPORT: “He is almost like the James Milner of West Brom, isn’t he? The way he’s come off that right flank which is where he’s always preferred playing.”

Can Snodgrass become a key player for West Brom this season?

Given that he is now into his mid-thirties, it is hard to imagine Snodgrass playing every game this season.

However, if Valerien Ismael uses him wisely, Snodgrass could still be a key asset to West Brom over the coming months. Milner is just a couple of months shy of his 36th birthday, but he has still come in at crucial moments for Liverpool, and has rarely let the team down.

West Brom are going through a tricky spell at the moment, losing their last three away matches, and they need to get back on track quickly if they want to secure a top-two finish.

This is where Snodgrass could come to the fore, like Milner has done time and time again, as his experience in the middle of the park could settle things down, and help his team return to winning ways.
