McLaren ace Lando Norris has said that he feels he could give Red Bull star Max Verstappen a 'run for his money' if he had a quick enough car to regularly challenge him at the front of the field.

The next decade or so of Formula 1 looks in safe hands with the likes of Verstappen, Norris, George Russell and Charles Leclerc among others set to excite and enthrall.

Indeed, the former pair have really lit things up this season with Max going for the title and Lando leading the charge for McLaren in what has been a great campaign for him personally.

That said, he obviously wants to be challenging for victories and titles on a regular basis and he feels as though he has the ability to do exactly that, he just reckons he needs the equipment underneath him to be good enough:

"100 per cent, I believe I could give Max a run for his money," he said to Formula1news.com.

"There are just different scenarios and situations where experience comes into play and you think ‘maybe he would have the upper hand on me in that scenario’ and I believe he (Verstappen) is one of the best drivers ever in Formula 1.

"I think he has proven that since he joined when he was 16 or 17 years old.''

With 2022 and new regulations on the horizon, McLaren will hope to provide Norris and teammate Daniel Ricciardo with championship-winning material, as they look to re-establish themselves right at the front of the grid after a few years of good progression and development.

Whether it's enough for them to take on Verstappen and, of course, Lewis Hamilton, though, remains to be seen.
