Journalist Luke Hatfield reckons that midfielder Jayson Molumby was unfortunate to lose his place in the West Brom side for their defeat at Fulham.

The Republic of Ireland international had started recent games with Swansea and Bristol City, his first two starts for the Baggies, but was dropped from the XI for the trip to Craven Cottage and replaced by Jake Livermore.

What happened against Fulham?

West Brom came into the game against their promotion rivals on the back of arguably their best performance under Valerien Ismael seven days earlier when they comfortably put Bristol City to the sword.

However, the Baggies were as easily beaten by the red-hot West Londoners, who continued their own blistering form.

But Ismael's side gave Fulham a huge helping hand on the day. Firstly, Kyle Bartley brought down Aleksander Mitrovic, which saw the Serbian striker break the deadlock from the penalty spot.

Later in that first-half Robert Snodgrass' under hit backpass allowed the Fulham striker to poke past Sam Johnstone to double their advantage.

To make matters worse for West Brom, Darnell Furlong saw red late on before Mitrovic completed his hat-trick to seal a 3-0 victory.

Molumby ended up playing the final 17 minutes, but he wasn't able to rescue anything from the game and Hatfield reckons that he was unlucky to have been dropped in the first place.

What did Hatfield say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Snodgrass isn't naturally a central midfielder, but he's going to play in that position this season.

"He impressed against Bristol City did Snodgrass and Molumby did too, so I think it was a bit harsh to drop Molumby."

Is Molumby likely to start against Hull?

Ismael would have surely made changes regardless of the opponent, but against a Hull side that sit third bottom of the Championship, alterations are necessary.

How much did Fulham pay for Aleksandar Mitrovic?

One of those could see Molumby recalled. Livermore is the captain and is therefore very likely to start, meaning Snodgrass could be the one to drop out.

Furthermore, it was the Scottish international's terrible pass that gifted Fulham their second on Saturday and that's enough of a reason to cost himself his place in the starting XI.
