Journalist Paul Brown has doubts as to whether Tottenham Hotspur target Matthijs de Ligt would be an instant success in the Premier League.
According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, newly-appointed Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is plotting a double bid for the defender and his Juventus team-mate Federico Chiesa.
What's the latest news involving de Ligt?
De Ligt became the most expensive defender in Italian top flight history when he completed a switch worth an initial £67.8million from Ajax to Juventus two years ago.
He has gone on to make close to 90 appearances for the Serie A giants and added to the silverware he already won while on the books of Ajax by clinching the league title, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.
But the 22-year-old has not been an automatic starter for his current employers this season, with him even being left on the bench as an unused substitute on occasions.
That has led to question marks over the Netherlands international's future and, according to Calciomercato, Spurs are not de Ligt's only suitors.
The report suggests Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester United are interested, while Real Madrid are willing to offer two of Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, along with cash, to seal the deal.
Meanwhile, Goal have claimed that Chelsea have been offered de Ligt as Juventus are keen to get the centre-half's wages off their books.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that de Ligt has a release clause of close to £130million which can be activated from next summer.

Brown believes de Ligt's initial struggles in adapting to Italian football means he may find it difficult getting to grips with the Premier League.
He told GIVEMESPORT: "There might be a few question marks about that adaptation.
"If he took so long to adjust to a new life in a new country once, would it happen again in the Premier League?

"It is a very different game with a much higher tempo and different style of play. I think there'd be question marks about him coming here."
Why are Spurs looking to Italy ahead of the transfer window?
Fabio Paratici took over as Spurs' managing director during the summer, with a leading role being to conduct transfer business, and a large amount of his contacts are based in Italy due to his previous experience at Juventus.
The north London club are also under new management after Conte was appointed as the incoming head coach, following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo, earlier this week.
Reports suggest Dusan Vlahovic, Stefan de Vrij, Franck Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic - who all ply their trade in Serie A - are among Conte's initial transfer targets.
