Timothy Bradley Jr says Caleb Plant hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of beating Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez because 'he has never been in there with anyone close to the level of Alvarez'.

Saturday night's fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas sees the WBA, WBC, and Ring super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez look to defend his titles against fellow IBF 168-pound titleholder, Plant.

Canelo, 31, heads into the fight as the favourite with the bookies but is up against a former Golden Gloves standout who is yet to taste defeat in his 21 professional fights.

And America's former two-weight world champion Bradley Jr feels Alvarez will be able to take advantage of Plant by going to the body in the latter rounds via a knockout despite acknowledging his fellow American's path to victory.

Bradley told ESPN: "Plant is 21-0 and the IBF super middleweight champion for a reason.

"The win over Jose Uzcategui was impressive, and he has had some good title defenses.

"But he has never been in there with anyone close to the level of Alvarez."

He added: "As I said before, he's going to have to fight a perfect fight, and while Plant has the tools to potentially do it, I just don't see it happening.

"There's a reason Alvarez is a 10-1 betting favorite. I don't see this fight going the distance either.

"I think Alvarez pieces Plant up, and then knocks him out with a body shot in the middle to late rounds."

Victory for Alvarez this weekend could see him step up a weight class to challenge the great Russian light-heavyweight Artur Beterbiev - although Beterbiev's promoter Bob Arum has warned it would be a step too far even for the Mexican superstar.

But Canelo appears to be rather unconcerned about the prospect of facing the fearsome puncher as he fancies his chances of winning a real-life battle of 'David vs Goliath'.

When asked by reporters if it would be crazy to suggest a fight for him against Beterbiev in the future, he replied: “No, not crazy. I love the idea. I love challenges.”
