Journalist Tom Barclay has tipped Che Adams to get himself on the scoresheet against Aston Villa on Friday night.

The Southampton striker scored his first Premier League goal of the campaign against Watford last weekend.

And Barclay has predicted Adams to go one better and score in consecutive league matches for the first time since netting against Crystal Palace and Fulham in May.

How has Adams performed this season?

It's been a mixed start to the campaign for the former Sheffield United frontman. Until recently, he hadn't contributed much for Southampton.

In fact, in his first seven competitive appearances in all competitions, he was directly involved in one goal and that came back at Everton on the opening day.

In Adams' defence, he hasn't been starting every week and before Watford last time out, he hadn't started in the league since the defeat to Wolves in September.

But having scored the equaliser at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup four days earlier, he was on target again to help Southampton pick up three crucial points at Vicarage Road.

Adams has scored just 15 goals in 86 appearance since signing for £15m from Birmingham back in 2019.

But often when Adams scores, he'll follow it up by scoring in the next game and Barclay wouldn't be surprised to see that happen against Aston Villa.

What did Barclay say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Wouldn't be surprised if he scores on Friday, just because he's on a bit of a run at the moment, he seems to be that way."

What is Adams' record against Aston Villa?

For someone that played for Birmingham for three years and scored 38 goals for the Blues, you'd have been forgiven for thinking that Adams has scored against Villa previously.

However, in 10 previous appearances, Adams is yet to score against his former Midlands rivals, a run that he'll be looking to end at St Mary's this Friday.

He has assisted goals against Villa in the past but hasn't yet managed to go one better and grab a goal.

But as Barclay alluded to, Adams has been renowned for going on runs of scoring in consecutive games, something he'll be hoping will continue against Dean Smith's side.
