Following his unfortunate release from WWE yesterday, Keith Lee has revealed whether or not his 'Bearcat' gimmick that he just recently debuted was his idea.

Many fans speculated that, following in the footsteps of Shane Thorne and Nikki A.S.H, Keith Lee had suggested the 'Bearcat' gimmick that he just debuted last month.

However, following his shock release yesterday, the former NXT Champion has made clear that the gimmick was not his idea.

Responding to a comment on his Instagram page last night, Keith Lee shot down a fan who tried to suggest that the 'Bearcat' gimmick was his idea.

Lee is now out of WWE, and as is typical with former members of the WWE rosters, it'll just be a matter of time before he speaks publicly about his time with the company.

The debut of the 'Bearcat' gimmick, including whose idea the gimmick was, will likely feature in his post-WWE interview in some capacity.

Keith Lee certainly wasn't the only member of the WWE roster releases yesterday, with the following 18 names let go by the company yesterday.

  • B-Fab
  • Ember Moon
  • Eva Marie
  • Frankie Monet
  • Gran Metalik
  • Harry Smith
  • Jeet Rama
  • Jessi Kamea
  • Karrion Kross
  • Katrina Cortez
  • Keith Lee
  • Lince Dorado
  • Mia Yim
  • Nia Jax
  • Oney Lorcan
  • Scarlett
  • Trey Baxter
  • Zayda Ramier

While the main reason for the releases was said to be "budget cuts", it has been reported that a few of the releases were down to the wrestler's vaccination status.

Reports have suggested that "at least five" of the people released by WWE, including Nia Jax, were openly unvaccinated, which is said to have played a part in their releases, which you can read more about by clicking here.
