All eyes will be on Cristiano Ronaldo during Saturday’s Manchester derby.
Whether the Manchester United fans will care to admit it, Ronaldo was on the brink of joining City this summer.
That was until the Red Devils made an 11th-hour move for the Portuguese superstar in an attempt to bring him back home.
It was an emotional return that Ronaldo simply couldn’t turn down.
At times this season, Ronaldo must have wished he’d done the unthinkable and signed for Man City instead.
But despite United’s struggles, Cristiano has still been banging in the goals. After his dramatic brace against Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, Ronaldo has now scored nine goals in 11 matches in all competitions.
And you wouldn’t back against him adding to that tally against Pep Guardiola’s City on Saturday.
While Ronaldo is averaging almost a goal every game for the last decade, that’s not quite the case against Saturday’s opponents.
He’s played 14 matches against City during his career and has only scored five goals.
He’s certainly made headlines in matches against Man City, too.
During his previous spell at United, he was often targeted in the Manchester derby as they attempted to get under his skin. That led to Ronaldo twice being sent off in clashes between the two sides.
In the 2005/06 season, he was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Andy Cole during a 3-1 defeat.
But the following season, Ronaldo got one over City.
In the first clash of the season, he scored and registered an assist as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side ran out 3-1 winners.

In the match at the Etihad, United moved within touching distance of the Premier League title in the penultimate match of the season with a 1-0 win.
From the very first minute, Man City - in particular left-back Michael Ball - tried to kick Ronaldo out of the game.
Inside the first minute, Ball produced a horrific stamp on Ronaldo’s stomach which left him writhing around the ground in agony. He was also left with six stud marks on his abs.

Referee Rob Styles didn’t spot it and Ball escaped without punishment.
That encouraged him to continue producing horrible tackles on Ronaldo throughout the match.

However, later in the first half, Ronaldo got his revenge.
With the ball in City’s penalty area, Ronaldo produced a few stepovers and completely bamboozled Ball. It led to the City defender bringing Ronaldo down for a penalty - a penalty in which Ronaldo dispatched.

It was the only goal of the game and, after Chelsea failed to beat Arsenal the following day, United were crowned champions.
As the camera zoomed in on Ronaldo at full-time after the 1-0 victory over City, you could clearly still see the stud marks that Ball’s size 11s had left on his stomach.
Message to the Man City defenders on Saturday: You can try and kick Ronaldo out of the game all you like but it won’t bother him one bit.
