WWE Releases: Nia Jax addresses vaccination status reports, says she was on mental health break

Nia Jax address the vaccination WWE release reports

Taking to social media, Nia Jax has broken her silence following her shock WWE release yesterday, and provided some more information on why she hasn't been on TV for a while.

Nia Jax was one of 18 wrestlers released by WWE yesterday, with reports suggesting that she had been let go partly due to the fact that she wasn't vaccinated.

In a lengthy statement uploaded to social media, Jax has confirmed that her vaccination status WAS NOT brought up when she was informed that she'd been let go by the company.

Jax, whose cousin is The Rock, also provided some additional information as to why she hasn't been on WWE television since September, stating that her absence was down to her mental health.

Jax said that she asked WWE higher-ups if she could take "a short leave of absence" from the company to work on her mental health, revealing that she'd been dealing with some issues.

Jax said that she had the full support of the company at the time, who wanted her to take some time away "to take care" of herself.

However, WWE asked her to return to the road from Monday, November 15. The former Raw Women's Champion explained that she asked to have her break extended, but never heard back from WWE.

Jax suspected that she would be given the additional time off, but was eventually released by WWE, who she reiterates "never mentioned" her vaccination status when she was released.

Nia Jax signed with WWE in 2014 on a developmental contract and has never wrestled outside of the company, so it remains to be seen whether or not she's going to stick around in wrestling following her release.
