Luke Hatfield reckons that Wolves could challenge for Europe this season.

Wolves lost their opening three league fixtures under Bruno Lage, but just one defeat from their last seven games has moved the Molineux outfit just four points off third-place and one behind fifth.

How have Wolves performed this season?

It was a really difficult start to Premier League life for Lage, although Wolves shouldn't have lost their first three matches.

Were they to play those games again, they'd probably have got closer to three or four points rather than the zero they accumulated, with missed chances aplenty.

But since Lage got his first league victory as Wolves boss, the Brentford defeat aside, they've been in brilliant form.

Including Monday's win over Everton, the Midlands side have collected 16 points from a possible 21, which puts them third in the form guide behind Arsenal (17) and Chelsea (18), meaning Lage's side have even racked up more points during that period than both Manchester clubs.

With the Manchester derby taking place this weekend, another win for Wolves at Crystal Palace could see them climb into the top-six for the first time since last November.

And whilst Hatfield isn't confident that Wolves will be in a European spot come the end of the season, he said there's a feel-good-factor at the club right now.

What did Hatfield say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "They seem to have found that happy medium with the Everton game and they'll be hoping that continues in terms of consistency.

"So, they will be happy with Lage and what he's done, the key for him is just to carry on.

"At the moment they're looking like challengers for Europe, I'm not saying they're going to be there at the end of the season, I don't think they will, but this recent run of form has really lifted spirits at Molineux, which wasn't there at the start of the season."

Are Wolves genuine top-six contenders?

We're only 10 matches into the season, but the top-three already looks sewn up, with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City so far superior to anyone else in the league.

From then on in, the league generally looks open. Manchester United have the players, Arsenal are in excellent form, whilst Tottenham have Harry Kane and Heung Min Son at their disposal, but those three remain inconsistent.

However, as West Ham showed last season and Leicester have shown in the last two years, it's not impossible to break into those top-six places. Wolves have come close, finishing seventh twice in recent times and if they keep racking up victories at their current rate, Lage's men might yet be playing European football once again in the near future.
