We all miss Xherdan Shaqiri in the Premier League.
The former Stoke City and Liverpool man left these shores for Lyon in the summer but the pocket-sized Swiss was an absolute joy to watch on his day.
Capable of opening up defences with his delightful left-foot, Shaqiri is one of the best technicians we’ve seen in the Premier League in recent years.
Shaqiri played in England’s top-flight for six seasons - an incredible achievement given his modest stature.
At just 5ft 7in, you’d think Shaqiri would often be bullied in what is considered one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
But his technical ability often overcame any shortcomings.
However, on Thursday night in the Europa League, Shaqiri’s lack of height really did haunt him.
The midfielder played 90 minutes as Lyon triumphed 3-0 over Sparta Prague at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
But he inadvertently went viral after he missed an opportunity in the second half.
Shaqiri’s attempted finish was close range was saved by Florin Nita. He then attempted to swing on the crossbar to stop his momentum from taking him into the back of the net.
But that was a big mistake.
Despite his jump, Shaqiri failed to even touch the bar. It resulted in him hilariously falling headfirst into the back of the net and getting tangled up.
We’re not quite sure why but we find it absolutely hilarious - and so do many football fans on social media.

While he played a part in helping Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, World Club Cup and Super Cup, Jurgen Klopp often found Shaqiri surplus to requirements.
In his final two seasons at the club, he appeared in just 21 Premier League games - many of which were late substitute appearances.
Recently, Shaqiri spoke of his Liverpool exit and admitted he would have liked to leave sooner than he actually did.
“I wanted to leave Liverpool sooner,” he said. “But I wasn’t allowed to; the club wouldn’t let me go. The important thing for me is that I’m gone now. There were also offers from Spain and Italy.
“I was in contact with him (Klopp) by phone before that. When the time came, he texted me. He wished me luck in that and said that I was a good player and a good guy.
“We never had any problems with each other, and we had a very good relationship. But I just wanted a new challenge, that’s normal in football. Jurgen helped me in this regard.”
