Caleb Plant stands 'a better chance of beating' Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez than Billy Joe Saunders ever did but even that won't be enough to stop the Mexican from doing what he does best.
That's the opinion of former WBA super-bantamweight world champion Carl Frampton.
Canelo Alvarez, 31, forced the Brit to quit on his stool when he claimed the WBO strap from Saunders with an eighth-round stoppage victory in May.
And now, the Mexican will step into the ring with the American at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
But Frampton expects this fight will last slightly longer than that, if only just.
Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, Frampton, who was a featherweight and super-bantamweight world champ, said: "Plant has a better chance of beating him than Billy Joe did.
"I think Billy Joe is a very, very good fighter but Plant is a big super-middleweight, Billy Joe is a blown-up middleweight really, although Canelo isn't exactly the biggest guy in the world either.
"But I think that Plant definitely has a better chance of beating Canelo I would say than Billy Joe did, yeah."
The key to victory, Frampton says, lies in the changes Plant has made to his training camp.
Plant, 29, enlisted the help of boxing legend Andre Ward and esteemed coach Virgil Hunter ahead of his fight with Alvarez on Saturday.
Frampton, 34, said: "I think that if there's anyone of the super-middleweight fighters of the past generation, Andre Ward, [Carl] Froch, [Andre] Dirrell, [Arthur] Abraham, that sort of fighter, I think that the only one you would have as the favourite in a fight against Canelo would be Andre Ward.
"So I think it's a masterstroke to bring someone like him into your team if you're Caleb Plant.
"If I was cornering Plant, I think we kind of know the approach he is going to have when he's brought Andre Ward and Virgil Hunter into his team, and he's got a good style."
But with all that being said, Frampton can only see one possible outcome.
He added: "I don't think he's going to be able to frustrate Canelo, but he can frustrate most people, he can stick and move.
"Sometimes he gets a bit brave and stands and trades, that's what he can't do in this fight, but I think loads of movement from someone like Plant will give him a chance of beating him.
"I just don't see it happening, but that's the way to beat him, that's how I'd fight him. But I don't think he has the punching power to hurt him to be honest."
Frampton also has fond memories of watching a young Plant spar with a certain George Groves way back in 2015.
"I remember watching him sparring George Groves when I was getting ready for a fight in Vegas," he recalled.
"I didn't really know who Plant was at the time but I remember after the spar thinking, 'f--- me, this kid is very, very good'.
"You know, George was out of shape at that point in time, but I remember being really, really impressed with him, and he'd only had a handful of fights at the time.
"This kid can fight, he can really fight, and it's as good as any of his wins at super-middleweight."
