Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Man Utd boss looked stunned by Maguire's comment after Man City loss

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked surprised when told about Harry Maguire's comments after Man United 0-2 Man City

Manchester United suffered another demoralising defeat on Saturday afternoon as they were beaten by bitter rivals, Man City.

Eric Bailly's own-goal gave the away side the lead after just seven minutes.

Bernardo Silva doubled City's lead after some very suspect defending by United just before half-time.

City continued to dominate proceedings in the second half but could not find another way past David de Gea as they emerged 2-0 victors.

According to Stadium Astro, Harry Maguire, United's captain, said the team 'lacked belief' on the day.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was told about about Maguire's comments after the game and he was clearly surprised at his choice of words.

Stadium Astro's Alison Bender said: "It's always a worry when the players say they lacked belief... especially when you have Cristiano Ronaldo in your side. I know you've spoken about psychology before..."

Solskjaer interrupts, asking, with a wry smile on his face: "Have they said they lacked belief?"

Bender replies: "So, [Harry] Maguire just said he felt in the second half the team, or certain players, lacked the belief that they could do it [produce a comeback]."

Solskjaer's smile quickly disappeared from his face when he heard Maguire's comments. View the moment below...

He certainly wasn't expecting to hear Maguire questioning his side's belief.

Whether Solskjaer retain his job as Man United manager remains to be seen.

It was widely reported his role was in danger when United were crushed 5-0 by Liverpool at Old Trafford last month.

Multiple outlets, including the Telegraph, reported he had at least three games to save his job.

Since then, United beat Tottenham, drew to Atalanta and were outclassed by City.

Only time will tell whether United's performances in the last three games is enough to save Solskjaer.
