Journalist Paul Brown doesn't reckon that Alexandre Lacazette would be a good fit for West Ham.

The Frenchman has worked his way into Mikel Arteta's team recently but is out of contract next summer and is therefore on course to leave the Emirates in the next nine months.

What's the latest news with Lacazette?

Lacazette has been an excellent servant to the Gunners since making the move from Lyon for £52.7m more than four years ago.

However, with his contract expiring in 2022 and no signs that he's going to sign fresh terms, his days in north London appear to be numbered.

Lacazette had endured a frustrating start to the campaign, playing just 72 minutes in Arsenal's first eight games, although a positive COVID-19 test, which forced him to miss the games with Brentford and Chelsea, were part of the reason for that.

But following his impressive impact off the bench and late equaliser against Crystal Palace last month, the 30-year-old has become part of Arteta's starting XI once again and showed his quality in the recent victories over Aston Villa and Leicester.

Despite his importance to the side, ESPN believe that Lacazette could leave Arsenal in January, which would rule out the possibility of him leaving for nothing at the end of the season.

Several European sides have been mentioned, including Sevilla and Atletico Madrid, although 90min reported in the summer that the Hammers would be interested in convincing the striker to move across London.

Brown, though, doesn't think that  a switch to the London Stadium would be good news for the Hammers.

What did Brown say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "He's not very young anymore. I look at West Ham's squad and think how would Lacazette fit into that squad? He's got a lot of friends there and people he knew from before and people from the same country.

"At West Ham, he doesn't seem a good fit for a variety of reasons, and I couldn't see him fitting into that team very well."

Do West Ham need Lacazette?

Despite their impressive start to the season both domestically and in Europe, David Moyes' men are still just one injury to Michail Antonio away from a potential crisis.

Can you name this obscure player?

Their failure to replace Sebastien Haller in January or the summer means that Moyes still doesn't have a back-up striker at his disposal.

With that in mind, Lacazette would be an good signing, but his wages would cost a fair bit, whilst he surely wouldn't join unless he had assurances of being a regular starter, which is unlikely with Antonio in such brilliant form.
