Being an undisputed champion is a goal no man had previously attained, but last night, Canelo Alvarez stepped into the ring aiming to beat Caleb Plant to achieve that goal.

He left the ring having conquered both the man and the main goal he came for.

The build-up to this fight was very entertaining with Mike Tyson weighing in on the fight and telling Hotboxin’:

“Caleb Plant ain’t lasting the distance. He’s going to get clocked. He’s going to get so f****d up. With two human beings, anything is possible, but I think this guy [Canelo] is going to f*****g kill him.

"He continues: “He’s your friend? You’re going to his funeral. Wait ‘till Alvarez starts hitting that motherf*****g body.”

The fight itself was a spectacle to behold. It was an entertaining evening with the main card showing some great moments, but everyone had eyes for the main event for obvious reasons.

The fight went on for a bit with Canelo digging in hard body shots one after the other, mixing it up with a jab and then landing some power shots upstairs.

By the 11th round, Plant was obviously dusted and was just hanging on, trying to survive.

The first minute in the 11th round saw Plant look spent and Canelo knocked his opponent down with a left hook, Plant tried to walk it off to regain his bearings but by that time, Canelo had smelt blood and was after him.

It looked like there was no hope for Plant anymore and it proved to be so. A left and straight right to the body and Plant was down for the last time and the crowd erupted as Canelo ran to the ropes to celebrate.

With hindsight, Canelo was expected to be dominant in this fight. He boasted several advantages over Plant which included strength and agility.

Canelo had even said that he would knock out Plant before the ninth round, but that didn’t happen.

The win gave Canelo a lot, with him now being an undisputed champion along with he being the only Latin American fighter to win four titles. Canelo could be regarded as the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.
