The weekend's main event in the sporting world was in Las Vegas with the fight between Caleb Plant and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

All the belts held by Alvarez and Plant were at stake.

Canelo went into the fight in possession of the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), and World Boxing Organization (WBO) super middleweight titles, while Plant held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight title.

Both fighters went into the MGM Garden Arena aiming to be boxing’s first undisputed super-middleweight champion and Canelo won the fight, knocking out Plant in the 11th round to gain the title.

The purse reports of the match highlight the Mexican’s standing in the sport, his ‘guaranteed’ purse standing at £30 million before any pay-per-view bonuses are added on.

Plant is also set to earn at least £7.4m for his part in the first-ever, undisputed super-middleweight title decider.
