Heavyweight Chris Barnett sent the UFC 268 crowds wild last night when he followed his incredible defeat over Gian Villante with a front somersault celebration, landing on his bottom.

Barnett weighed in at an incredible 19 stone as he made his second appearance in a UFC bout.

He lost his debut to Ben Rothwell back in May, and so it was no surprise that the victory meant a lot to him as he became the first UFC heavyweight fighter to win via a spinning kick.

With two minutes to spare in round two, Barnett produced a spinning back kick which floored Villante, before he unleashed a series of relentless hooks on his opponent.

A stoppage victory was then called by the umpire as Villante could not take any more blows. Just seconds later, Barnett stunned crowds with a well-executed flip made better by him landing on his behind.

Following his flip, Barnett won over crowds once more when he demonstrated the ultimate sportsmanship and honoured his well-fought opponent:

“I don’t want to take this moment right here. This is his town. This is his place. Cheer for my man.”

The loss for Villante is his fourth in a row, and he is coming to the end of his illustrious 12-year career as he prepares to continue his substitute teaching work at a middle school in New York where he also coaches the 8th grade football team and it set to become the wrestling coach too.

Whilst spinning kicks and somersaults are not new additions to the UFC arena, both making an appearance in a span of 20 seconds, and from a 120kg man, are practically unheard of.

Barnett will not only be remembered for his impressive victory, but perhaps one of the most iconic moments of sport in 2021 so far.

Later on the night, Kamaru Usman extended his unbeaten run in UFC with a hard-fought UD victory over Colby Covington.
