Canelo Alvarez’s knockout of Caleb Plant delighted crowds on Saturday night, as he became only the sixth fighter to hold the four major belts of fighting, at the same time.
Newly released, ringside footage, depicts the sheer power behind the blows and the knockout that clinched the victory.
Canelo had been troubled early on by Plant, who opened his most challenging bout with solid jabs and avoided trouble with repeated shoulder roles.
But the Mexican was quick to close the distance with a fourth-round backing to the ropes, and a series of hooks to Plant’s head and body.
Canelo pulled off a remarkable finish in round 11, with a combination of blows, which saw him named the undisputed super-middleweight world champion.
The round 11 breakthrough featured Canelo delivering a left hook to Plant which left him on shaky legs before he was floored with a right uppercut.
Plant was able to return to his feet, but only managed to carry on fighting for mere seconds before he was returned to the floor once more. He then became the recipient of several right-hand blows before the referee waved the fight off.
Footage from the ringside has now been released which shows the clear delivery of the initial left hook which hurts Plant.
Not only can the blow be seen, but it can also be heard before the footage then features the final knockdown which took place right in the camera’s eye.
The American is seen collapsing once more before the referee decides to end the match.
Canelo’s latest victory saw him being crowned the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO super-middleweight champion of the world as he made fighting history.
With so many victories under his belt, Canelo’s next match is sure to be one to look out for with many opponents now on the horizon for the fighter as he prepares to continue claiming titles.
