Journalist Luke Hatfield reckons that the only way Valerien Ismael can win over the West Brom supporters is by gaining promotion back to the Premier League.

The Frenchman's side have fallen four points behind second-place Fulham, who beat them 3-0 last weekend.

But the Baggies faithful have been left frustrated by Ismael's tactics and style of play since he replaced Sam Allardyce in the dugout.

How have West Brom performed under Ismael?

West Brom initially made an excellent start to life under Ismael, collecting 22 points from their opening 10 games and remained unbeaten during that period.

But the Baggies have started to falter in recent weeks and whilst they're still yet to taste defeat on their own patch, their away form has been wretched.

Having seen their undefeated start ended by Stoke on the first day of October, West Brom were then beaten by Swansea before suffering perhaps their biggest setback at Fulham on Saturday.

West Brom have two kinder looking home fixtures on the horizon against Hull this evening and then Middlesbrough on Saturday as they look to get back into promotion contention by closing the gap on the top-two.

But Hatfield reckons that promotion is the only way that Baggies supporters will warm to the former Barnsley manager.

What did Hatfield say?

Hatfield was asked what Ismael can do to win over the fans and he told GIVEMESPORT: "I think he's got to get them promoted, simple as that."

Are West Brom likely to get promoted?

With Bournemouth in simply irresistible form and Fulham also on an impressive run of late, it's difficult to see West Brom finishing ahead of either of those.

However, there's still 87 points to play for and therefore plenty of time for the Baggies to fix their season and play themselves back into contention.

How much did Fulham pay for Aleksandar Mitrovic?

But with the gap between second place increasing with every passing week, Ismael has little room for error, especially with the fans already on his back.

But those Baggies supporters will surely lay off him providing the results come good.
