It could be "a total game-changer" for Everton if Rafa Benitez persuades Luis Diaz to head to Goodison Park in January, according to journalist Paul Brown.
Benitez could strengthen his squad when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
What's the latest news involving Diaz?
According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha, via Sport Witness, Everton are interested in securing Porto winger Diaz's services.
The report suggests that Diaz's current employers were only willing to sell their prised asset during the summer if his £68.6million release clause had been met, but they could sanction his departure if a bid worth £42.9million is lodged when the transfer window reopens.
It is not the first time Everton have been linked with the 24-year-old as the Toffees were in talks to sign Diaz in a deal which would have seen outcast James Rodriguez go to Porto on loan with the summer deadline looming.
However, the Merseyside club failed to get their man and Diaz remained at Porto while Rodriguez secured a switch to Qatari club Al Rayyan a month later.
Diaz, whose Porto contract is not due to expire until 2024, has won plenty of silverware during the early stages of his career and was also the top goalscorer at this year's Copa America.

Brown is eager to see Everton conclude a deal which would see Diaz make the move to Goodison Park.
The journalist believes the winger's attributes would make the Toffees a much-improved side, giving Benitez's outfit more of an attacking threat.
Brown told GIVEMESPORT: "I'd certainly love to see him go there.

"I think he'd be really dynamic and give them something completely different. I think he could be a total game-changer."
How has Diaz performed so far this season?
It is clear why Porto were so keen to hold onto Diaz as he has regularly found the back of the net since the campaign got underway.
That fine form has allowed him to move beyond 50 goals at club level during his career, with him plying his trade at Colombian side Junior before moving to Portugal.
Diaz has also impressed on the international stage and taken his tally to 29 caps after starting Colombia's last four matches.
Team-mate Juan Cuadrado, who counts Chelsea among his former clubs, described Diaz as 'excellent' after his brace allowed Colombia to bag third place at the Copa America in July.
