Jessie Fleming (Chelsea 1 – 0 Aston Villa)

Fleming struggled to break into a talented Chelsea side last season, but she is now enjoying a lot more time on the pitch for the Blues.

The 23-year-old proved to Emma Hayes why she should continue to be included in the manager’s match day plans, scoring the only goal of the game against Aston Villa.

Fleming latched onto a pass from Ji So-yun to calmly slot the ball past Hannah Hampton. It was her second WSL goal of her career – both have come this season.

Maya Le Tissier (Brighton & Hove Albion 1 – 0 Everton)

Le Tissier has long been one of Brighton’s standout players, and she provided yet another star performance as her team edged past Everton.

The 19-year-old was assured at the back to help Brighton keep a clean sheet, allowing teammates such as Aileen Whelan and Danielle Carter to go forward and cause Everton problems. Whelan eventually scored the winner in the 61st minute.

Le Tissier went close to scoring a couple of times herself, showing she also has an attacking element to her game.

Alessia Russo (Tottenham Hotspur 1 – 1 Manchester United)

After joining Manchester United last year, Russo missed the majority of the season with a hamstring injury. She is now making the most of her time back on the pitch, even earning a call-up to the Lionesses squad.

Russo impressed again for United at the weekend, scoring a superb goal to put her side in front.

She completed a marauding run through the Tottenham Hotspur defence, before smashing the ball into the back of the net from a tight angle. Spurs eventually equalised, but Russo’s goal will be remembered for some time.

Kirstie Levell (Leicester City 1 – 4 Manchester City)

Selecting a ‘keeper who conceded four goals may seem a very strange choice for a standout player, but Levell proved against Manchester City why she could become one of the best goalkeepers in women’s football.

Levell pulled off save after save, denying attacking superstars such as Lauren Hemp and Ellen White.

If not for Levell, Leicester City may have found themselves on the end of an eight of nine goal rout.

Deanne Rose (Reading 3 – 0 Birmingham City)

Rose was on the scoresheet twice as Reading completed a comprehensive 3-0 victory against league strugglers Birmingham City.

Her first goal, just minutes after Natasha Dowie opened the scoring, was a header from an Amalie Eikeland cross.

Rose’s second saw her round the goalkeeper to coolly roll the ball into an empty net.

Kim Little (Arsenal 4 – 0 West Ham)

It is always hard to pick a standout player from an Arsenal team firing on all cylinders, but Little has been consistently world class all season.

She continued her excellent form against West Ham, scoring the opening two goals for the Gunners.

Little’s first goal saw her ease past several West Ham defenders to bury the ball into the back of the net. The second, her 50th WSL goal, was almost a carbon copy of her first.
