Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly at an increased risk of being axed & losing his job as Manchester United manager.

The Glazers stuck by the Norwegian after an embarrassing 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool last month, but questions have once again been asked of the manager after an equally dire 2-0 loss in the Manchester derby at the weekend. United have now lost six of their last 12 matches across all competitions with senior players including Bruno Fernandes frustrated by lack of direction from Solskjaer.

There is now a belief Solskjaer's sacking will be inevitable at some stage of this season, though the club would still prefer to have a replacement lined up before deciding to end his reign. United were hoping to make a decision on Solskjaer’s future in the summer when any change of manager could be planned out.

They resisted calls to axe Solskjaer and appoint Antonio Conte two weeks ago before the Italian joined Tottenham because he was seen as a short-term option and too confrontational. Sources close to the current managerial situation at United reportedly informed CaughtOffside that significant progress is being made on appointing Rodgers, though some hurdles remain.

David Ornstein reported this morning that currently no sign from Man Utd of manager change. Solskjaer gets Watford as things stand. The Man United board is still with him but unclear how much longer if form continues. There is always a tipping point in these situations but the signals that United executives feel this has arrived are yet to emerge. If the team’s form fails to pick up, then the pressure will rise on the decision-makers.

Aside from links with Rodgers, the former Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has been linked to Manchester United as a potential interim option. Not only would the German tactician be able to help United in the short-term, he could also move 'upstairs' so to speak once a long-term boss has been appointed where he would be able to try and fix the longstanding organisational issues with the club.
