Max Verstappen was eager to play down his title chances on Sunday afternoon after his victory at the Mexico Grand Prix, saying that he expects the Brazilian one this weekend to provide a tougher test.

The Dutchman now leads the Formula 1 standings by 19 points from Lewis Hamilton and, with four races to go, is currently in a strong position to win his maiden Drivers' title.

He knows, though, that things can soon swing away from you in the sport and was eager to reiterate that fact after taking victory in Mexico, as he went on to say that he expects Brazil will not be a repeat this weekend.

“I don’t believe in momentum,” Verstappen said. “So, every single race we have to try and nail the details and we didn’t do that [on Saturday].

“Things can go wrong very quickly, or can go right. So, it’s going to be really tight and exciting to the end.

“This has been always a track really good for us, so I expect Brazil not to be like it was today.”

Of course, some will say that the Brazilian circuit has similar attributes to the one in Mexico that should make it another Red Bull stronghold but it is clear that no such thoughts are in Verstappen's mind.

For a driver on the brink of his first-ever world championship title he is certainly cutting a cool and collected figure at the moment and he'll just be keen to get to Brazil and see what he and his Red Bull team can do there before we head to the Middle East for the final three races.
