Journalist Paul Brown reckons Takehiro Tomiyasu's experience and stability has made a "big difference" to the Arsenal side.

The Japanese international made the switch to the Premier League from Bologna for £16m this summer and is yet to lose in eight Premier League appearances.

What's the latest news with Tomiyasu?

When the right-back arrived in north London, the Gunners were bottom of the top-flight standings, yet to score and had conceded nine times in their opening three games.

But since Tomiyasu has stepped into the side, Arsenal have enjoyed a remarkable turnaround and head into the international break 5th, just three points off the Champions League places.

According to Who Scored, Tomiyasu, who Mikel Arteta said is a joy to work with, has been the Gunners' third-best player this season behind Emile Smith-Rowe and Gabriel with a rating of 6.97.

Since his first start, Arteta's side have taken 20 points from a possible 24 available, keeping an impressive five clean sheets, with Tomiyasu playing all but 28 minutes across those eight games.

The signings of Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White have also helped Arsenal's revival, but Brown was keen to single out Tomiyasu's impact on the team.

What did Brown say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "A few weeks ago, you would have said that there were weaknesses everywhere, but it does seem to be clicking.

"Tomiyasu has made a big difference, he's brought a bit of experience and stability there."

What has Tomiyasu done to impress?

Since the defender came into the side, Arsenal haven't exactly had the toughest of fixture lists.

However, that doesn't tell the full story. Tomiyasu has come up against Heung Min Son and kept him quiet despite his late consolation in the north London derby and dealt with the dangerous threat of Ismaila Sarr against Watford on Sunday with ease despite one late challenge early on.

Tomiyasu hasn't yet had the desired impact in the final third and is still waiting for his first goal involvement in an Arsenal shirt, but the difference he's made to the Gunners at the other end has been colossal.

His passing percentage of 78.3 is just the 15th best in the squad, but what he lacks with his feet he makes up with his head – his average aerial duels won per game (2.8) is the best at the club.

Tomiyasu is far from the finished article, but it's certainly no coincidence that his arrival has coincided with Arsenal's upturn in fortunes.
