Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is determined to start another unbeaten run for The Magpies - starting at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Pardew's side went throughout their first 11 games of the season without a loss until they came up against Manchester City last weekend, but the manager sees no reason why his team cannot do it again.

The Magpies have not beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford for 39 years, but will look to put an end to that as they sit 4th in the table, four points behind the Red Devils, this time round.

“I would not say it was one to enjoy, for us it is about getting back on the unbeaten run and looking for the result we need to do that," said Pardew.

Taking positives from his sides first defeat, The Magpies boss added: “We need to maximise everything we can at Old Trafford – we have to make them work hard for anything they get. It is a difficult-looking game but so was Manchester City and we created chances there.

“With more fortune this time we will see what we can produce.”

Newcastle go into the game with hope that former Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan will start for the Magpies.

“I expect Obertan will be back, Cheick is also still doubtful, but we still have good spirit in the camp," added Pardew.
