Chelsea are closing in on a deal for highly-rated Real Madrid striker Jose Pozo who has previously attracted interest from Arsenal reports the Daily Mirror.

The 16-year-old Spanish sensation is widely regarded as a star of the future, but having not yet committed his long-term future to the Bernabeu, speculation has suggested he is poised to move.

Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has recently launched a new scouting network in Spain with a view to bringing the brightest young talent to Stamford Bridge - engineering deals in a similar manner to the one which saw former Barcelona star Oriol Romeu join Chelsea in the summer.

The Portuguese tactician who moved to west London in the close-season, has been tasked by club owner Roman Abramovich to overhaul Chelsea's ageing squad - and Pozo is believed to have been earmarked as one of those players for the future.

According to reports in Spain, Pozo is ready to quit La Liga in favour of a move to the Barclays Premier League, having previously been on Gunners boss Arsene Wenger's radar.

However, after Arsenal's interest seemingly waned, the teenager now looks set to join Chelsea instead of heading to the Emirates Stadium.
