Wolves are hoping defender Richard Stearman can return to action quicker than initially predicted after breaking his wrist during last weekend's clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

Manager Mick McCarthy initially feared the right-back would be out of action for a month but Stearman is to have a carbon fibre cast as protection in the hope of returning to training next week.

"Stears might be training next week with the youngsters. He is going to have a carbon fibre cast put on the wrist," McCarthy said. "If it is something he can play with, it will be sooner rather than later when he returns."
