Barcelona striker David Villa is subject to interest from Liverpool, according to Metro.
The 29-year-old was first reportedly targeted by The Reds in 2010, but the Spanish World Cup winner opted to move to the Nou Camp instead.
However, with his place under threat in the Catalans starting XI, Liverpool may look to snap up Villa.
Despite having shelled out in excess of £50 million on striker Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, Liverpool are reportedly willing to part with £40 million to sign Villa.
Coming from a club in the Champions League, Villa will only leave for a club in Europe's premier club competition, meaning Liverpool would require a top-four birth this season.
