Arsenal target Andy Polo admits he wants to move to a club where he will play first-team football reports talkSPORT.

The 17-year-old Peruvian starlet, who currently plies his trade for Universitario de Deportes is widely regarded as a star of the future, and has attracted interest from Spain and England.

European giants Real Madrid remain the favourites for Polo's signature, after the player expressed his desire to test himself in La Liga over the Barclays Premier League.

However, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to convince him that his future would be better served in north London, and will use his record of nurturing promising young talent at the Emirates Stadium as the main bargaining tool to engineer a deal.

"Spain seems to me a great League," Polo told Peruvian newspaper Libero. "Real Madrid is a possibility but I know I should take it step by step.

"But I have to be realistic and join a team that can give me a chance to show my football."

Wenger is famed for his youth development programme, which saw the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, and most recently Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain chose Arsenal over other clubs because of the opportunity to learn under the Frenchman.

"I'm very happy because I think I will be sold to a European team," added Polo. "But I am waiting for confirmation from my agent."
