Chelsea striker exodus set to continue

Shenghai Shenhua have revealed their intentions to sign Didier Drogba, after completing a deal to bring Nicolas Anelka to the club.

The French striker has signed a two-year deal which start the beginning of the year, and the ambitions Chinese outfit have plans to bring his former-strike partner to the club as well.

Drogba's Chelsea future is uncertain after his rejected a one-year extension to his current deal which expires in the summer.

"Drogba is an excellent player. We got in touch with him two weeks ago," said Zhou Jun, the club's director.

"From our club's perspective, we have this to say - if he is willing to come, we will definitely welcome him."

The Ivorian is free to talk to other clubs after the turn of the year with the likes of AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly interested.

Drogba's Chelsea form has been impressive of late, having scored four times in as many games, including twice against Valencia in the Champions League.

Having already lost Anelka, Chelsea will be keen to keep hold of Drogba, not least because of their limited attacking resources.
