The Final Fantasy 7 Remake proved to be one of the biggest successes on the Playstation and fans are looking forward to the release of Part 2.
Although that is not the official name, it is what Square Enix is reportedly referring to the project as in-house.
The first game sold in the millions and brought a new twist to the classic story of Final Fantasy 7, which is expected to be continued as part of the next release.
Here’s everything you need to know about Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2:
UPDATE 17th June 2022: A new trailer has confirmed that the game is called Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth!
UPDATE 5th May 2022: A fan on Reddit has come up with an intriguing theory regarding Barrett and there has been discussion on how it might affect Part 2!
UPDATE 2nd April 2022: Still no official update from Square Enix regarding FF7 Remake Part 2, but we still hope that there will be something before the end of 2022!
UPDATE 2nd February: Yoshinori Kitase, the director of the original Final Fantasy 7 game revealed on the 25th Anniversary Livestream that Square Enix will reveal more on the game later this year.
Kitase said: “We just started the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7, so we want to celebrate and get fans excited, so within the next 12 months we want to share some information. Look forward to more information,” according to a translation from PushDustIn supplied for VGC.
UPDATE 31st January: Fans are hoping that there will be more information on the game as part of the Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Livestream!
UPDATE 11th January: Tetsuya Nomura finally reveals what sort of character Red XIII is. He said in a recent interview “I guess since Red XIII is a feline of sorts” after fans had speculated for years if the character was a cat or a dog!
UPDATE 14th December: The next game in the series will reportedly have INTERmission’s synergistic cooperative combat.
FF7R development leader Naoki Hamaguchi stated in a recent interview: “By including an element in FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, where Yuffie and Sonon synergize with each other, the battles have been rearranged into having a different strategic feel, and I think we were able to depict the bond between Yuffie and Sonon by using the strategy inherent in the gameplay.
“Of course, I’d like to expand upon these cooperative elements which we tried out in FF7R EPISODE INTERmission in the next game as well.”
The game is set to release in winter of next year, the trailer above has confirmed.
It has not been confirmed if the second instalment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series will be on PS4, or whether it will be brought out as a PS5 exclusive.
We will update this game as and when Square Enix makes the official announcement regarding Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.
There is not currently a trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, although we do know that the footage shown at the end of the Intergrade DLC, including the party heading to Calm, will likely be part of the opening cinematic of the new game.
It was confirmed in a translated interview with Director Tetsuya Nomura that the second instalment of the series would see Cloud and the team “running around in the wild, [with a] different atmosphere than Pt. 1.”
It has not been confirmed if this means that there will be Open World elements for Part 2, but fans are expecting there to be more of an overworld akin to the original Final Fantasy 7 game now that the story has taken the team outside of Midgar.
