Marc Albrighton is looking forward to facing old teammate Stewart Downing when Liverpool arrive at Villa Park on Sunday.

Downing is a former Player of the Year for Aston Villa and was a firm favourite during his time at the club.

Albrighton has no qualms with his decision to leave, but will be hoping to get one over on his pal.

"Stewart will be coming back with Liverpool and I'm looking forward to seeing him," said the academy graduate. "He carried on where he left off at Villa. He's done really well.

"It will be good to see him. I think he made the right move and you can't argue with that."

The ex-Middlesbrough man has played for England regularly since his transfer to the North West, and with Albrighton striving for international recognition he has been impressed with his friend's progress.

"He did fantastically for Villa and he's gone on to better himself as a player and become an established England international which he's doing at the minute.

"Hopefully he will come to Villa and we can show him we're moving on as well."

The winger thinks the game with the Reds is one of the biggest of the season and believes that his side can win.

"The Liverpool match is massive," he continued. "We have confidence going into the game after our win at Bolton.

"When you win matches you feel you can take on anyone so we hope to translate that into the game and get three points. We're flying high and will take that to Villa Park."
