Rooney wants Europa League title

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has set his sights on winning the Europa League.

United will play in Europe's second-tier competition in the new year after being sent crashing out of the Champions League by Basle last week. While that came as a shock to a club that has played in three of the past four Champions League finals, Rooney does not want to dwell on that disappointment any longer.

The 26-year-old wants to make the most of the remaining challenges this season and, as well as defending the Barclays Premier League title, that includes Europa League success. Asked if he was looking forward to the competition, Rooney said: "Definitely. It's a shame we're out of the Champions League. That's what we all want to play in."
