Liverpool are being linked with a shock January raid on Manchester United midfield target Sandro, according to reports.
The Metro claims Kenny Dalglish has highlighted the Brazilian as a possible replacement for Lucas Leiva, who is set to miss the rest of the season after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Carling Cup.
Sandro has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs following the arrival of Scott Parker in the summer transfer window, and agent Luiz Paulo Chignall admits nothing can be ruled out at the present time.
"In football you can never rule anything out, though, with it possible that negotiations will see all parties reach an agreement. Many clubs have contacted me for information on his situation, but there has been no official proposal," he's reported as saying in the paper.
Dalglish is claimed to be 'pondering' a move for the 22-year-old, who impressed in the Barclays Premier League last season and has experience at the right level should Liverpool turn to the former Internacional starlet.
Jay Spearing is currently being tipped to fill the void at Anfield after Lucas joined skipper Steven Gerrard on the treatment table, with the Liverpool boss being coy over any possible activity during the transfer window.
Seydou Keita, Lassana Diarra and Yann M'Vila have also been linked with Liverpool moves, and Sandro is the latest name to be added on a speculative hitlist.
As for Manchester United, their reported interest was flagged-up by The Guardian yesterday.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is being linked with players in the position following Darren Fletcher's 'break from football' was announced on the Red Devils' official website two days ago - the Scottish international taking time out of the game for health reasons.
Danielle De Rossi and Jack Rodwell have also been linked with Manchester United moves as the Scot considers his options, with the later a more long-term option for the champions.
With Anderson also out of action at Old Trafford and Tom Cleverley yet to return, Manchester United are certain to be stretched over the festive period, and whether Sandro is pursued as someone to ease the burden post-Christmas remains to be seen.
