Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker would love for international teammate Lukas Podolski to join him at the Emirates Stadium.
Podolski has been in fine form this season; netting on 15 occasions in 18 appearances for club and country and, as ever, is being linked with a move away from the RheinEnergieStadion.
The German has reportedly been attracting the attention of Arsenal as Arsene Wenger scours the market for capable back-up for Robin van Persie.
Wenger will be in desperate need of goalscoring reinforcements during the New Year with both Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh both due to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Arsenal boss is said to have identified Podolski as a potential January acquisition, and Mertesacker would be keen to link-up with the 26-year-old.
"[Podolski] is a powerful, great player, especially for the national team," Mertesacker said.
"He has scored a lot of goals, is a good striker with a very good finish. His left foot is unbelievable and I am a fan of his.
"The Premier League is a little different to the Bundesliga but you get used to everything."
