Henry 'offered deal' for Arsenal return

Arsenal have reportedly offered Thierry Henry the opportunity to secure a sensational return to the Emirates Stadium.

The New York Red Bulls striker has been training with his former club of late during the MLS off season, and speculation suggesting he could seal a temporary switch to north London has been rife.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger has finally decided to formalise his interest in Henry, and has tabled a two-month loan deal for the Arsenal legend.

The Gunners will be in desperate need of forward reinforcements during the New Year, with Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh both set to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Henry, then, is seen as the ideal acquisition to relieve the goalscoring burden on Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, before heading back to the USA in March.

The 34-year-old Frenchman left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2007, having scored a record 226 goals during an eight year stay in London.

He won two league titles and triumphed in three FA Cup finals with the Gunners, prior to his move to the Nou Camp.
