AC Milan outcast emerges as Arsenal target

Arsenal have reportedly identified AC Milan's Taye Taiwo as a potential January acquisition in their pursuit of defensive reinforcements.

The 26-year-old moved to the San Siro on a free transfer during the summer, but has featured only four times in Serie A for Milan this season.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger is considering launching a loan move for the Nigeria international as he looks to bolster his depleted defence.

Arsenal are without Thomas Vermaelen, Bacary Sagna, Andre Santos and Carl Jenkinson due to injury, while Johan Djourou is now suspended.

The Swiss defender was sent off against Fulham as Arsenal suffered a dramatic last-gasp defeat at Craven Cottage.

The Gunners had taken the lead in the first-half through Laurent Koscielny, but were pegged back late on by a Steve Sidwell header.

Bobby Zamora then snatched three points for the home side in stoppage time after Arsenal failed to clear their lines.
