Crystal Palace should be more adventurous under manager Patrick Vieira, according to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge.

The French tactician arrived at Selhurst Park over the summer and has begun his tenure in impressive fashion, but he could still extract more from his ever-improving charges.

How have Palace fared under Vieira?

After four seasons of pragmatism under former boss Roy Hodgson, the Palace hierarchy went down a more expansive, forward-thinking direction for the 2021/22 season.

The Eagles had been known for their resolute defence rather than their attacking prowess, scoring just 72 goals in their final 76 Premier League games under the ex-England manager.

However, Vieira immediately set about changing that in the summer. The 45-year-old replaced several experienced campaigners with multiple young, exciting acquisitions, marking a new era in south London.

The likes of Odsonne Edouard, Michael Olise and Conor Gallagher have added to the existing firepower of Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze, making for a fearsome forward line.

Famous victories over Tottenham Hotspur and reigning English champions Manchester City have already marked the beginning of Vieira’s reign, providing a new wave of hope and optimism for the months and years ahead.

But Bridge believes more could still be to come from Palace, given the options available to Vieira in the final third of the pitch.

The Football Terrace: Arsenal don't miss Aubameyang AT ALL!

What has Bridge said about Palace?

After some disappointing results against the likes of Aston Villa and Leeds United in recent weeks, the Sky Sports reporter believes the London club have the talent to throw caution to the wind on a few more occasions in order to go in search of all three points.

Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: “It'll be interesting to see how Palace get on. I just think sometimes they should go for it a bit more.

“Maybe in games coming up, with the old saying ‘attack’s the best form of defence’, I think with Palace that's definitely the case. They've got players who can just really go for it sometimes.”

Could Palace be more adventurous?

Palace are currently sitting in 11th position in the top-flight standings after an impressive first half of the season under Vieira.

Nevertheless, things undoubtedly could have been even better if they’d found the back of the opposition net on a more regular basis.

Their eight draws from just 17 Premier League outings is the joint-highest total in the division, while central midfielder Gallagher is the club’s top scorer with six strikes.

As a result, it’s easy to understand why Bridge is calling for Palace to play on the front foot more often, and with winnable fixtures against the likes of Norwich City and Millwall (FA Cup) to come, Vieira may request exactly that from his side.
