Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is demanding the club invest in some world class additions to help fuel his own ambitions at the club, according to the Daily Mail.

After newspaper stories surrounding Rooney's potential exit from Old Trafford were quashed over the weekend by both player and club, a report has emerged sighting the ambitions shown by the Premier League champions.

Rooney is reportedly demanding United invest in some world-class players as they attempt to keep pace with Manchester City domestically and in Europe.

It was United's lack of ambition that saw Rooney demand a move away from the club just over 12 months ago, and with rumours continuing to circulate surrounding his future, the club may be keen to invest to retain their star man.

The likes of Wesley Sneijder and Claudio Marchisio have previously been linked with United, big names that are sure to appease Rooney's demands.
