Hamsik's Chelsea move quashed

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik is ready to sign a new deal with the Serie A side, amid interest from Chelsea.

The Slovakian international has impressed, particularly in the Champions League, this season, in a free flowing Napoli side that finished above Manchester City in qualifying for the knock-out phase of the competition.

The likes of City and Chelsea have been linked with the star, but the 24-year-old says a new deal is ready to be signed.

"Everything is agreed, all that is missing is the signature," Hamsik says following Napoli's 1-0 win over Palermo at the weekend.

The move from Hamsik comes as a surpass follows comments from his agent that bids from the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona would be welcomed.

However, the u-turn from Hamsik leaves Chelsea searching for an attacking addition to their squad with Andre Villas-Boas keen to recruit one new face, in addition to Gary Cahill, in the January transfer window.
