Arsenal have reportedly failed in an attempt to sign Lyon defender Aly Cissokho.
The French left-back has made clear his desire to secure a January switch to the Barclays Premier League, and the Emirates Stadium has been touted as a potential destination.
According to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger approached Lyon regarding a loan deal for Cissokho, but the Ligue 1 outfit were not interested in the Arsenal boss' proposal.
It is claimed Lyon are only prepared to sell the 24-year-old outright, and have told Arsenal that they would need to stump up £8 million to secure his signature.
Wenger, however, is only after a short-term solution at full-back, with Andre Santos and Kieran Gibbs both set to return for the Gunners later in the season.
The defensive duo have been laid off for some time, but Gibbs is expected to recover in time to feature this month, while Santos is sidelined until March.News Now - Sport News
